{"id":7408,"date":"2019-09-02T19:37:13","date_gmt":"2019-09-02T19:37:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=7408"},"modified":"2019-10-26T18:13:39","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T18:13:39","slug":"mahama-has-limited-vision-dan-botwe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/09\/02\/mahama-has-limited-vision-dan-botwe\/","title":{"rendered":"Mahama Has &#8220;Limited Vision&#8221; \u2013 Dan Botwe"},"content":{"rendered":"<table border=\"0\" width=\"98%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"top\"><span class=\"peace_content_text_1\">Former President John Mahama\u2019s \u201climited vision\u201d did not allow him to \u201cvisualise\u201d how to create new regions even though seven petitions were presented to him as president to that effect, the Minister of Regional Reorganisation and Development, Mr Dan Botwe has said.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking during a closed-door meeting with some disappointed business owners and importers in his office on Monday, 19 August 2019, the former President noted, in reaction to concerns about the government\u2019s increasing budget overruns that: \u201cThere can be no justification for some of the ministerial portfolios created by this administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Senior Minister, Minister of State in the Office of Vice-President, Minister of State in the Office of Senior Minister, Ministers for Procurement, Monitoring and Evaluation; Business Development, Special Initiatives, Aviation, Railway Development are all an unnecessary charge on the public purse\u201d, Mr Mahama stated.<\/p>\n<p>He also argued that with the completion of the creation of new regions, the Ministry for Regional Reorganisation has been rendered redundant.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to Mr Mahama\u2019s comment about his ministry, the Okere MP told the media that: \u201cWhen the UK wanted to get out of the EU, they appointed a whole minister for that\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In Ghana, he continued, \u201cThey would have said: \u2018This is just how to get out of the EU; why do you need a minister?\u2019 But the UK didn\u2019t do that. They appointed a minister. So, it\u2019s about the vision that you have\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In Mr Botwe\u2019s view, Mr Mahama, who is the 2020 flag bearer of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), lacked vision, as President, to do what the Akufo-Addo government has done.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDid I hear a former President talk about that?\u201d Mr Botwe asked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt shows the limited vision he [Mr Mahama] has\u201d, the minister said, adding: \u201cHe doesn\u2019t get it\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the first place, he couldn\u2019t do it\u201d, the former General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party insisted, adding: \u201cThe people made representation to him, he couldn\u2019t do it because the capacity to visualise it and put in place a mechanism to achieve it, he didn\u2019t have it, so, he couldn\u2019t do it.
