{"id":7736,"date":"2019-09-06T10:30:24","date_gmt":"2019-09-06T10:30:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=7736"},"modified":"2019-10-26T18:04:54","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T18:04:54","slug":"ghana-beyond-aid-why-not-ghana-beyond-corruption-dutch-ambassador-quizzes-govt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/09\/06\/ghana-beyond-aid-why-not-ghana-beyond-corruption-dutch-ambassador-quizzes-govt\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana Beyond Aid: Why not Ghana Beyond Corruption? \u2013 Dutch Ambassador quizzes gov&#8217;t"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Netherlands\u2019 Ambassador to Ghana, Ron Strikker has asked the Akufo-Addo-led government why it is pursuing a policy of \u201cGhana beyond aid\u201d and not &#8220;Ghana beyond corruption&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On assumption of office on 7 January 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo expressed his desire to lead a government that will manage the country\u2019s resources in a manner that will allow the country to be self sufficient without external assistance. This the president referred to as &#8220;Ghana beyond aid&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>To this end Nana Akufo-Addo launched the Ghana Beyond Aid charter at this year\u2019s May Day celebration in Accra.<\/p>\n<p>He told the several thousands of workers who converged on the Independence Square for the Workers\u2019 Day parade that: \u201cGhana Beyond Aid is setting our nation on an irreversible pathway of development\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith the blessing of the Almighty and our collective effort, we will march boldly from poverty to prosperity so that we can create the Ghana our forefathers envisaged.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sharing his thoughts on the policy at a seminar, Mr Strikker wondered why the government will not focus on pursuing an agenda of ghana beyond corruption since in his view corruption is inimical to the growth of the country.<\/p>\n<p>in a Facebook video posted by TV3, Mr Strikker said: &#8220;You need a good business climate to attract foreign investmnet&#8230;corruption is a very bad thing ad companies suffer and will stay away if they think that they are going to be harrassed by corruption in a certain country&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Your official policy is Ghana Beyond Aid; why not Ghana Beyond Corruption?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FTV3GH%2Fvideos%2F1134716976717835%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"420\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>source:classfmonline<\/p>\n<div class=\"related_articles\">\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Netherlands\u2019 Ambassador to Ghana, Ron Strikker has asked the Akufo-Addo-led government why it is pursuing a policy of \u201cGhana beyond aid\u201d and not &#8220;Ghana beyond corruption&#8221;.
