You lived for the dignity of your fellow black. Your African pride, dignity and audacity were unassailable. Africa has lost a bold and noble Statesman. My condolences to the government and people of Zimbabwe,\u201d Mr Rawlings tweeted.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe\u2019s founding leader Robert Mugabe died in Singapore aged 95, two sources in touch with his family told ZimLive on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Mugabe had been battling ill-health and President Emmerson Mnangagwa told a Cabinet meeting two weeks ago that doctors had \u201ctaken him off life support.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He became the first prime minister of the newly independent Zimbabwe after elections in February 1980.<\/p>\n<p>Articulate and smartly dressed, Mugabe came to power commanding the respect of a nation.
