A Deputy National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn has called the bluff of the Kyebi Traditional Council accusing them of harbouring \u2018deep seated hatred\u2019 for the main opposition political party.<\/p>\n
The Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Council on Monday, September 23, 2019 embarked on a demonstration to protest a comment by the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Kwame Zu, that, the Okyenhene would still be \u201cdrinking water with animals\u201d if the former President, John Mahama had not provided Okyeman with portable water.<\/p>\n
He made the statement at a demonstration organised by some opposition parties to protest hardship in the country. Kwame Zu has since apologised.<\/p>\n
The comment however did not sit well with the people of the politically vibrant state of Akyem Abuakwa and their chiefs.<\/p>\n
The Traditional Council at the demonstration demanded that Kwame Zu and the NDC come to apologise or risk being banned from operating in the kingdom of Akyem Abuakwa.<\/p>\n
Reacting to the demands by the chiefs on Angel FM, Accra\u2019s Evening News, <\/strong>Ako Gunn saidthe decision to embark on the demonstration is a \u2018political one\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is looking like the chiefs already have a deep seated hatred against the NDC, otherwise why will they drag the NDC into this whole thing? At least Kwame Zu never made the comments on an NDC platform\u2026so why blame the NDC for the comments made in his private capacity\u2026?,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n According to Mr Gunn, the chiefs should have at least read and appreciated the apology from Kwame Zu before deciding to embark on the demonstration.<\/p>\n \u201cOn Friday, Kwame Zu wrote a letter apologising to the chiefs of Akyem Abuakwa, are the chiefs telling us they didn\u2019t see the letter and its contents?
