{"id":9860,"date":"2019-09-25T15:33:29","date_gmt":"2019-09-25T15:33:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/?p=9860"},"modified":"2019-10-26T17:56:39","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T17:56:39","slug":"osei-akoto-bows-out-of-parliament","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nsemgh.com\/2019\/09\/25\/osei-akoto-bows-out-of-parliament\/","title":{"rendered":"Osei Akoto Bows Out Of Parliament"},"content":{"rendered":"<table border=\"0\" width=\"98%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\" align=\"center\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td>\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\">\n<table border=\"0\" width=\"100%\" cellspacing=\"0\" cellpadding=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"left\" valign=\"top\"><span class=\"peace_content_text_1\">The Member of Parliament for the Tafo-Pankrono constituency in the Ashanti Region Dr. Anthony Osei Akoto has announced he will not contest the ruling party\u2019s upcoming primaries for the 2020 polls.<\/p>\n<p>The minister for Monitoring and Evaluation made his decision known to the party\u2019s constituency executives at a meeting held on Monday in Kumasi.<\/p>\n<p>Constituency Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Moses Donkor in an interview with Ultimate FM\u2019s Isaac Justice Bediako described the decision by the former deputy Finance minister as unfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy MP yesterday informed us the constituency executives over his decision to retire next year from parliament meaning he won\u2019t contest the upcoming parliamentary primaries which we see as unfortunate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have never regretted working with him.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t support his premature retirement because of his intellectual contribution to Parliament. But he gave personal reasons which I and my executive have to respect.
