DR. KOFI AMOAH DISCLOSES WHEN THE NEXT LEAGUE WILL START IN GHANA

Ghana Football Association, Normalization Committee Chairman, Dr Kofi Amoah, has revealed that the
next football league in the country will start in August.
Ghana premier league is set to bounce back after the 2018/2019 season ended abruptly after officials
were caught in bribery and corruption issues in the documentary of investigative journalist Anas
Aremeyaw Anas’s piece on football.
The head of the four-member interim body, says FIFA has approved their work so far and it’s left with the
Executive Committee of the GFA to give approval, before the association goes for elections to elect new
leaders for the body.
The mandate of the Normalization Committee was extended for another six months by FIFA in March
2019, to run the affairs of Ghana football till September but according to the chairman, it’s time to hand
over the running of the game to the football people.
Speaking to the media after handing the NC Special Cup to winners Kumasi Asante Kotoko he said, “Well,
the next league will start in August and therefore the GFA will communicate to them (the clubs),…they already have
an idea but they also know that we are going through the Normalization process of changing the
statutes of the Ghana Football Association”.
“FIFA have pretty much approved what we have done and now we have to place it before Congress-
the Ghana Football Association Congress will have to approve it and when they approve it then we go
for elections- from the district to the regional to the national, then we will select the board which is the
former Exco of the GFA, and the Chairman who is the President and then they can start”, he added
