BNI; National Security Pick Up Top Police Cop Over Hatched Coup Plot Announcement

A combined team from the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) and National Security have picked up a senior Commissioner of Police (COP) of the Ghana Police Service for his alleged role in the coup plot that was supposed to destabilize the country.

The alleged cop, according to mynewsgh.com, was in cahoots with the coup plotters and was billed to break the news on air if the coup had been successful.

This step by the security forces is as a result of some classified information ascertained during an examination and checks done on the phones and gadgets of Dr. Mac-Palm, Donya Kafui (aka Ezor) – the blacksmith, and Bright Debrah Ofosu, a freight forwarder, after they were arrested.

It is believed the said top cop will be assisting in investigations. He is alleged to hail from the Ashanti Region and was even vying for the Inspector General of Police (IGP) position when it became apparent that, David Asante Appeatu was to leave the position.

According to grapevine sources, the investigative operatives are not treating the said cop as a suspect but he is to assist in investigations as a result of the text messages intercepted between himself and  the suspected coup plotters.

The conspirators have been jointly charged for conspiracy to commit crime, to wit, manufacturing of arms and ammunition and possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition without lawful authority.

The connivers have been charged for plotting to commit crime, that to say, manufacturing of arms and ammunition and possession of explosives, firearms and ammunition without any legal backing.

Kafui and Mac-Palm were slapped with two extra charges — while Kafui faces additional charges of manufacturing six pistols and 22 explosives, Mac-Palm faces a further charge of possessing 22 explosives, six pistols and three hand grenades without lawful authority.

Treason

Dr. Frederick Yao Mac-Palm, the Chief Executive Officer of the Citadel Hospital and his alleged accomplices were put before the Kaneshie District Court with an additional charge of treason weeks ago.

Togtether with Colonel Samuel Kojo Gameli, Geshon Akpa, Warrant Officer Esther, Lance Corporals Seidu Abubakar, Solomon Ali and Sylvester Akankpewu, they are all facing charges ranging from conspiracy to commit treason, treason, conspiracy to possess explosives, arms and ammunition as well as possession of explosives, arms and ammunition without lawful excuse.
