U23 Championship: Penalty Kick ¨Vodoo¨ Continues To Hunt Ghana

Ghana has yet failed another test of penalty kicks after losing to the Young Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire at the Cairo International Stadium in Egypt.

The game ended in a two all draw after ghana came from behind twice to level up the score.

The Meteors went down in the 13th minute of the first half but skipper Yaw Yeboah equalized in the 51st minute of the second half.

Pressure from the Ivorians resulted in their second goal in the 85th minute, but the Ghanaians again levelled the score in the 92nd minute, thus sending the game into extra time.

Both teams could not register any goal during the extra time thus pushing the game into the lottery.

The Black Meteors ́shambolic performance during the penalty kicks caused the team, after Kwame Baah made a fine save before Ghana wasted three consecutive penalties.

But hope is not lost as Ghana have a life-line of playing in the third place game against either hosts Egypt or South Africa, who are due to slug it out to determine who plays the Ivorians in the final.
