There is imminent health danger in the Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipality of the Ashanti region, as workers of Waste Management firm, Zoomlion Ltd embark on indefinite strike over eight months salary arrears.
According to the aggrieved workers, several efforts made for management to pay the arrears have fallen on deaf ears hence the decision to sit at home.
The strike by the Zoomlion workers will soon manifest as heaps of refuse will soon take over the Abuakwa community and entire municipality if authorities fails to address the issues immediately.
Some of the workers, speaking to Fox Fm reporter, Kofi Ntow Frank said that, management keeps telling them to exercise patience because they are working on their salaries, but nothing positive seems to come of the several months of waiting.
The workers, numbering about 40, were wearing red bands, complaining against the refusal of the company to pay them eight months arrears.
“We are going on strike until our situation is given the urgency it deserves” they insisted.
