Kiki Banson forced me to crown Kuami Eugene ‘king of highlife’ – Amakye Dede

Veteran Highlife musician, Amakye Dede, has announced Kiki Banson as the person who pressured him to crown Kuami Eugene as the future ‘King of Highlife’ at the 2019 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) on stage.

Amakye Dede made this revelation on Okay FM after he earlier said on Asaase Radio that he was forced to perform that task.

According to the singer, he was not ready to perform what he was tasked to do since he felt it was inappropriate.

“I am telling you without hesitation that Kiki was the one who handed me the crown. He forced me to crown Eugene.” He told Abeiku Santana.

“When he initially gave it to me, I gave it to one of my boys, Robberman, to hold onto it. It was not my intention, and I was coerced into doing it.” He added.

“If you doubt me, you can call Kiki right now and ask him if he wasn’t the one who gave me the crown.” He stated.

Abeiku Santana, who was surprised about the revelation asked Amakye Dede if was indeed he was referring to Kiki Banson.

Amakye Dede in response said; “Why would he do this to me?”

Charterhouse, the organizers of the VGMA on the other hand through their Head of Public Events, Robert Klah also announced they had no upper hand in Amakye Dede’s revelation.
