Atuabogas Plant to Shut Down for Two Weeks – Ministry Assures No Impact on Ghana’s Power Supply

The Ministry of Energy has announced that the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant will undergo a two-week shutdown for scheduled maintenance. According to the Ministry, the temporary closure is part of routine operational procedures aimed at ensuring the facility’s efficiency, safety, and long-term reliability.
In a statement, officials emphasized that the shutdown will not disrupt Ghana’s power supply, as alternative arrangements have been put in place to ensure continuous electricity generation. The Ministry assured the public that other power plants have been prepared to compensate for any shortfall in gas supply during this period.
The Atuabo Gas Plant, located in the Western Region, plays a critical role in processing natural gas for electricity generation and industrial use. Authorities have stressed that the maintenance exercise is a proactive measure to prevent unexpected breakdowns and safeguard national energy security.
The Ministry further called for public calm and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to delivering stable and sustainable energy to households, businesses, and industries across the country.
