President Mahama Begins Strategic Asia Tour to Japan and Singapore

President John Dramani Mahama has embarked on a high-profile working visit to Japan and Singapore, setting off from Accra on Sunday, August 17, 2025. The mission is part of Ghana’s broader “Resetting Ghana” agenda, aimed at bolstering international cooperation and attracting investment.
In Japan (Tokyo):
President Mahama will feature at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD IX). He is scheduled to deliver a keynote address titled “Promoting Trade and Investment”, spotlighting Ghana’s ongoing reforms and investment potential .
He will also lead the Ghana Presidential Investment Forum, where he will showcase opportunities in sectors like infrastructure, trade, and technical cooperation. As part of bilateral engagements, he is set to meet with officials from JICA (Japan International Cooperation Agency), JETRO (Japan External Trade Organisation), and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba .
In Singapore:
Following his engagements in Tokyo, President Mahama will embark on a three-day state visit to Singapore. His packed itinerary includes:
- A courtesy call with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam
- A meeting with Prime Minister Lawrence Wong
- Participation in the Africa‑Singapore Business Forum
- An address at an investment forum to present Ghana’s reform strategies and entice Singaporean investors
These visits are expected to enhance market access for Ghanaian goods, promote technology and finance partnerships, and strengthen human capital development links .
