Kennedy Agyapong Files Nomination to Contest NPP Flagbearership

Firebrand politician and Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has officially filed his nomination to contest the flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Clad in a confident smile and surrounded by enthusiastic supporters, Kennedy Agyapong submitted his nomination forms at the NPP national headquarters in Accra, reiterating his commitment to lead with integrity, discipline, and accountability.
“Ghanaians are yearning for bold and decisive leadership. I have not enriched myself through politics — I am coming to serve, not to steal,” he declared in a fiery post-submission speech.
A Campaign Rooted in Patriotism and Tough Love
Known for his no-nonsense attitude and reputation as an outspoken critic of corruption, Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign is centered on national pride, youth empowerment, and economic independence.
“This country needs a leader who will say it as it is and take action. We need to fix the economy by cutting waste, investing in local industries, and enforcing discipline across all sectors,” he added.
He promised to tackle the high cost of living, support local entrepreneurs, and streamline government spending should he be elected.
Party Unity and the Road to Primaries
Kennedy Agyapong called on all aspirants and party supporters to uphold unity as the party moves toward the internal contest.
“Let us avoid insults and division. At the end of the day, we must all rally behind the chosen leader to break the 8 and continue the good works of the NPP.”
With this step, the Assin Central MP joins other contenders including Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the highly anticipated NPP presidential race.
