NDC using state power to target NPP figures – Bawumia

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has accused the John Dramani Mahama-led administration of harassing and persecuting supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) following the party’s exit from power.
He alleged that the government has been abusing its authority to target leading party figures as well as social media influencers sympathetic to the NPP.
Speaking during his campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, September 10, Dr. Bawumia pointed to the recent arrests of the NPP’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, and the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi, as clear signs of political persecution.
“We’re all witnesses to what is going on after we lost power. NDC is harassing, abusing, and persecuting us. Recently, they arrested Chairman Wontumi and Chairman Abronye.
They have been arresting our bloggers, TikTokers, and our appointees. This shows that we need to unite to win the 2028 elections,” he stated.
Dr. Bawumia emphasized that party unity is crucial for the NPP’s chances in the 2028 general elections.
