Lawyer Frank Davies Explains Godfrey Dame’s Self-Recognisance Bail

Lawyer for former Attorney General (A-G) Godfred Dame, Frank Davies says his client was given bail as a result of his position as the former attorney general of Ghana.
The former AG was invited by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police as a result of a petition brought against him by the Director of Operations of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, Richard Jakpa in the controversial ambulance case involving the current Finance Minister and the former.
Davies, who is the Director of Constitutional and Legal Affairs of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) explains that Dame’s position as a lawyer, former Attorney-General, leader of the Bar, enabled his self-recognisance bail.
Davies described the petition against his client for misconduct during the Ato Forson ambulance trial as ‘baseless”.
“A matter which has received judicial pronouncement. This Jakpa thing, is this the first time you are hearing it? No. This complaint has already been made. It has received a judicial pronouncement, so what? is it not obvious to you? Is it not obvious what the implications are? So I need no say, ” Davies opined.
Mr Jakpa has petitioned the CID, calling for an investigation into allegations that Mr Dame fabricated evidence during his tenure as Attorney-General in the high-profile ambulance procurement case, which involved Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, now the Minister for Finance, and himself as Third accused.
