Nigerian Senator Ned Nwoko Breaks Silence: Blames Young Wife Regina Daniels’ Outburst on Drug Abuse

Senator Ned Nwoko (Delta North) has publicly responded to a viral video showing his wife, Nollywood actress Regina Daniels, in distress, attributing her recent erratic behaviour to alleged substance abuse.
In a lengthy post shared on his verified social-media handle on Sunday, he claimed that Daniels is now battling drug and alcohol addiction, which he says is the root of the marital crisis.
“Regina was not always like this. Her current battle with drugs and alcohol abuse is the root of our problem. She must continue her rehabilitation programme, or I fear for her life and safety,” Nwoko wrote in a statement headlined “Regina’s Unprovoked Carnage And Rampage In My House And In My Absence.”
He alleges that, within the last 48 hours, Daniels attacked three staff members in their home and vandalised vehicles and windows — all, he claims, during his absence.
“She slapped and hit three staff in the past 48 hours and destroyed property, including cars and windows, for no just cause.” — Ned Nwoko
The senator denied allegations of violence against him, pointing out that his other wives have never leveled such accusations. Instead, he pointed the blame at Daniels, describing her as “the violent one” in their union.
According to the statement, Nwoko has offered two options for rehabilitation: one in Asokoro, Abuja, and another abroad in Jordan, which he says would minimise access to drugs.
He further claimed that Daniels relocated to an undisclosed place where she allegedly “will have unrestricted access to drugs,” and named two individuals, “Sammy” and “Ann”, as her supposed suppliers.
This disclosure comes after a video surfaced in which Daniels is heard saying:
“In Ned Nwoko’s house, I am nothing, but in my own house I am a Queen. Not again. I can’t stand the violence, it’s too much.”
Her brother, Ojeogwu Samuel Danhillman (also known as “Sammy West”), also reacted publicly, accusing the senator of assault and vowing to defend his sister.
To date, Regina Daniels has not issued a public response to the allegations or the senator’s statement.
Background
Regina Daniels first rose to prominence as a child actress in Nollywood, and has since become one of Nigeria’s most recognisable film stars. She married Ned Nwoko in 2019, with the union attracting significant attention in part due to the couple’s wide age gap.
Nwoko serves as the senator representing Delta North senatorial district in Nigeria, and has previously held public office and engaged in business and philanthropic initiatives.
What it Means
- If Nwoko’s claims are verified, the case shifts the narrative from alleged domestic violence to issues of mental health and substance abuse in high-profile relationships.
- The public nature of the accusations may carry reputational risks for both parties, especially given their prominence in politics and entertainment.
- The call for rehabilitation as part of resolution suggests a departure from traditional divorce or separation narratives into a domain of health intervention.
- Stakeholders including family, legal counsel, and possibly medical professionals may be drawn into the matter as it develops.
Looking Forward
Observers are watching for responses from:
- Regina Daniels or her representatives.
- Medical or legal professionals who can verify substance-abuse claims.
- Law-enforcement or regulatory bodies should any property damage or assault claims be reported.
- Fan and media reaction, given the strong public interest in both individuals.
