The Odwira Festival, one of Ghana’s most cherished traditional celebrations, serves as a unifying platform for the Akuapem people to renew their bonds of unity, showcase their rich cultural heritage, and reflect on the legacy of their forebears. This year’s celebration is expected to draw thousands of citizens, dignitaries, and tourists to the historic town of Kuronti, renowned as one of the key divisions of the Akuapem Traditional Area.

Honouring Tradition and Leadership

Osahene Boafo Ansah III, whose reign has brought renewed cultural energy and developmental vision to Kuronti, will preside over the grand durbar accompanied by Nananom and Mpanin of the Akuapem Kuronti Division. The durbar will feature traditional drumming, dancing, pageantry, and royal processions that showcase the spiritual and social depth of the Odwira celebration.

Distinguished Guests and Partnerships

The 2025 celebration will also welcome several guests of honour, including respected community leaders, corporate executives, and partners who have supported development initiatives in the Akuapem area. Among those expected are Felix Akomea Nyarko (MD of Prestige Alliance Ltd), Nana Oheneba Osei Mensah V (Akonomanhene), and Alpha Nyarko Kissi (CEO, Alpha Global Entertainment & Media).

The event enjoys sponsorship and partnership from prominent brands such as McDan Group, OFIE TV, Enlighten Entertainment, Peeva Productions, Ohakk 2 Consults Ltd, Big Parps Travels and NKA Consult, among others, highlighting the growing collaboration between traditional authorities and the private sector.

Celebrating Culture, Development, and Identity

The Odwira Festival has long been a symbol of renewal — spiritually cleansing the community, reconciling families, and reaffirming unity among the people of Akuapem. This year’s activities will include cultural exhibitions, youth dialogues, musical performances, and community service initiatives, all aimed at preserving cultural values while promoting sustainable development.

Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to participate in the week-long festivities leading up to the durbar. The Traditional Council has assured the public of a well-organized and secure celebration that will not only promote the cultural pride of Akuapem but also boost local tourism and commerce in the Eastern Region.

As the traditional drums beat once again through the lush Akuapem hills, Kuronti stands ready to remind Ghana — and the world — that the spirit of Odwira continues to thrive: a symbol of cleansing, unity, and progress.
