A mid-day fire on Thursday destroyed six out of 10 rooms at the Jacobu Police Barracks in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, officials said.

The blaze, which started around 12 p.m., gutted all belongings in the affected rooms before firefighters from Asante Bekwai arrived at the scene to bring it under control.

No injuries or deaths were reported.

Authorities are yet to determine the cause of the fire, but preliminary information suggests it may have been triggered by an electrical fault, according to eyewitness accounts.
Police have begun investigations into the incident.
