The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced the opening of an overflow car park at Terminal 3 of the Kotoka International Airport as part of measures to manage the anticipated surge in passenger traffic during the Christmas and New Year travel season.

According to GACL, the temporary car park is intended to ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and enhance the overall travel experience for passengers, airport users, and the general public during the peak festive period.

The company noted that the Christmas season traditionally records a sharp increase in both domestic and international passenger movements, particularly at Terminal 3, which handles most long-haul international flights. The additional parking facility will provide extra space for private vehicles, taxis, and airport users dropping off or picking up passengers.

GACL assured the public that appropriate traffic management measures, signage, and security arrangements have been put in place to ensure the smooth operation of the overflow car park. Airport officials and security personnel will also be deployed to guide motorists and maintain order within the expanded parking area.

Passengers and visitors have been advised to arrive early at the airport, follow traffic instructions, and make use of the designated parking areas to avoid unnecessary delays during the busy travel period.

The opening of the overflow car park forms part of GACL’s broader efforts to enhance operational efficiency and passenger comfort at Kotoka International Airport, especially during high-traffic seasons.

GACL further encouraged the travelling public to cooperate with airport authorities as they work to ensure a safe, secure, and stress-free travel experience throughout the Christmas holidays.

Nsemgh will continue to provide updates on travel and aviation-related developments in Ghana.
