Residents of Paga Alarmed Over Repeated Landings of Suspicious Aircraft
Residents of Paga, in Ghana’s Upper East Region, have raised concerns over the repeated landing of an unidentified aircraft on what appears to be an unapproved airstrip within the community.
Eyewitnesses say the small aircraft has landed and taken off several times in recent days, drawing the attention of residents and sparking anxiety over the purpose of its operations. Images circulating on social media show the aircraft touching down on a bare, dusty field, believed to be close to residential areas.
According to community members, no official communication has been issued to explain the aircraft’s presence, leading to speculation and growing unease among residents. Some locals fear the activity could be linked to illegal operations, while others worry about safety risks associated with aircraft movements in a populated area without visible security or aviation markings.
“We are not against development or legitimate business,” a resident told Nsemgh, “but when planes land repeatedly without explanation, it naturally raises concern. We want to know who owns the aircraft and why it keeps coming here.”
Security analysts note that unregulated airstrips and unauthorized aircraft movements pose serious national security and safety concerns, especially in border communities like Paga, which lies close to Ghana’s northern frontier.
Residents are therefore calling on the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority, the Ghana Police Service, and other relevant state agencies to urgently investigate the matter and provide clarity to calm public fears.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been released by aviation or security authorities regarding the aircraft or its operations in Paga.
Nsemgh will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available.
