It is unclear what caused the unannounced power disruption, as most communities and businesses have been cut off, worsening conditions on major streets and intersections where traffic lights are not functioning.

According to the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, once fully operational, the AKSA Anwomaso Power Plant is expected to add approximately 141 megawatts to the national grid, providing a significant boost to electricity supply for households, businesses, and industrial users, particularly in the middle belt and adjoining regions.

The additional capacity is expected to ease pressure on the system during peak demand periods and improve supply reliability.

However, most areas are currently experiencing darkness as households struggle to contend with the heat.
