Akandoh orders suspension of Nalerigu Nursing College Principal

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the immediate suspension of the Principal of the Nurses and Midwifery Training College in Nalerigu over alleged unauthorised admissions.

The directive was issued during the Minister’s working tour of the Upper East, North-East, and Northern Regions, where he inspected health facilities and training institutions to assess operations and service delivery.

Akandoh, who had earlier been briefed on reports of irregular admissions at the Nalerugu-based institution, visited the college as part of the tour.

Following preliminary findings, he ordered the immediate suspension of the head of the school pending further investigations into the matter.

In a communique issued on Friday, February 27, the Minister stressed that compliance with established admission protocols is non-negotiable, warning that heads of institutions found to be engaging in unauthorised practices would face strict sanctions.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating that maintaining high standards in health training institutions remains a top priority to safeguard the integrity of the country’s healthcare system.
