Afoko meets other NPP aspirants and party executives
Former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Awentami Paul Afoko, has met with other National Executive aspirants in Jamasi, Ashanti Region.
Mr. Afoko, who is seeking the NPP National Chairmanship for a second term, visited Jamasi to mourn with Kwadwo Okyere Mpiani, former Chief of Staff under President John Agyekum Kufuor, on the passing of his mother, Obaapa Elizabeth Owusu Kwaaso.
Also in attendance were several NPP figures contesting the National Chairmanship, including former National Organiser John Boadu, Ghanaian diplomat Ambassador Edward Akwasi Boateng, former Minister for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Stephen Asamoah Boateng, and former Energy Minister Agyarko Boakye Kyeremateng.
The gathering also saw interactions between Mr. Afoko and former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
In a show of party unity, the aspirants were seen exchanging pleasantries, joking, and laughing with one another, delighting onlookers who noted that the spirit of cohesion within the NPP appeared to be returning.
The aspirants also took turns offering condolences to Mr. Mpiani and his family. The remains of Obaapa Elizabeth Owusu Kwaaso, who passed away at 103, were interred at the family home following a requiem service at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Jamasi.
She was 18 years old when she gave birth to Mr. Mpiani.
