The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced a temporary disruption in water supply to about 20 communities in parts of Accra due to scheduled maintenance works at the Weija Water Works.

According to GWCL, the maintenance exercise is aimed at improving operational efficiency and ensuring reliable water delivery to consumers. The works will involve essential repairs and servicing of key equipment at the treatment facility, necessitating a temporary shutdown.

Communities expected to be affected include Weija, Mallam, Gbawe, McCarthy Hill, Awoshie, Sowutuom, Ablekuma, Dansoman, Sakaman, South Odorkor, parts of Kasoa, and surrounding areas.

GWCL stated that the exercise is time-bound and assured customers that water supply will be restored immediately after the maintenance is completed. The company apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents in the affected areas to store enough water ahead of the shutdown.

The utility provider further advised consumers to report any burst pipes or illegal connections during and after the restoration period to help maintain system stability.

GWCL reiterated its commitment to improving water service delivery nationwide and appealed to the public for cooperation during the maintenance period.
