Ghanaian pilgrim dies in Mecca

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the passing of a Ghanaian prospective pilgrim,  Musah Sidi, aged 53, who died while performing the Tawaf ritual at the Haram in Mecca.

According to PAOG, the deceased collapsed during the circumambulation of the Kaaba, a central rite in the Hajj pilgrimage involving walking in a circular motion around the sacred structure, and passed away shortly afterwards.

The office confirmed that the bereaved family has been formally informed of his demise, while arrangements are underway for his body to be prepared for Janaza prayers after Jumu’ah prayers before burial.

“In Islamic tradition, a pilgrim who dies in a state of worship and in Ihram is promised immense spiritual honour in the hereafter,” the statement added.

The Pilgrims Affairs Office extended its condolences to the family, sympathisers and loved ones of the deceased, praying for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
