Beverly Afaglo Died After Two-Year Battle With Cancer – Manager Confirms
The death of beloved Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur Beverly Afaglo has been linked to a long and painful struggle with cancer, according to her manager.
Speaking to Ghana Weekend on Sunday, May 24, the actress’s manager, Abu Iddris, revealed that she passed away after a two-year battle with the disease. He said she died on Saturday night at the International Maritime Hospital in Tema at the age of 42.
“She’s been battling cancer for two years. It’s been a relentless war. She really fought hard, and this is where it ended,” Iddris said.
According to the manager, the illness began as breast cancer before spreading due to its genetic nature. Despite her worsening condition, he said the actress stayed dedicated to her craft and her family throughout treatment. “We shot things for her while she was undergoing treatment. The premieres, the promotions — she was undergoing treatment,” he explained, adding that she lived doing her very best until the cancer eventually overtook her.
Afaglo’s passing was first announced by her husband, musician Eugene Baah, popularly known as Choirmaster of the music group Praye. In an emotional Instagram tribute, he described the late actress as his strength, happiness and greatest source of support, writing that his heart was shattered beyond words over her death. He noted that her passing came just days before what would have been her birthday. The couple had two daughters together.
A trained journalist and public relations professional, Beverly built a celebrated career across Ghanaian television and film, appearing in productions such as The Game, A Northern Affair, Aloe Vera and Sidechic Gang. Beyond acting, she was respected as a tireless entrepreneur who combined her celebrity status with building commercial ventures.
News of her death has triggered an outpouring of grief across the entertainment industry. Actresses Jackie Appiah, Roselyn Ngissah, Gloria Sarfo and Martha Ankomah, along with actor James Gardiner and other colleagues, visited the family residence to pay their condolences.
Her family, through Cine-God Studios and her management, has announced that a one-week observation will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at the Green Flavour Events Centre, Community 9, Tema, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The family has appealed to the public for prayers and support while requesting privacy as they mourn and prepare for her final funeral rites.
