Anti-LGBTQ to pass by Friday- Dafeamekpor

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor has indicated that Ghana’s Parliament could move quickly to pass the reintroduced Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, commonly referred to as the anti-LGBTQ bill. According to him, once the parliamentary report is adopted, lawmakers could proceed to the consideration stage immediately and potentially pass the bill by Friday.
He argued that Parliament is not starting from scratch because a previous version of the bill had already been passed before former President Nana Akufo-Addo did not assent to it before leaving office.
Earlier this year, Dafeamekpor also claimed that President John Dramani Mahama would be ready to sign the bill if Parliament passes it again.
The proposed legislation has generated strong debate in Ghana and internationally, with supporters saying it protects Ghanaian family values, while critics argue it could violate human rights protections.
