Family Alleges GH¢3.7 Million Demand in Dispute Over Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s Burial

A fresh controversy has emerged ahead of the funeral of the late Apostle Dr. Kwadwo Safo, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group, with reports alleging that members of the family are demanding GH¢3.7 million before releasing his body for burial.

The claim, which has been circulating on social media and was highlighted by Peace FM, comes amid an already public disagreement within the Safo family over funeral arrangements and the implementation of the late industrialist’s final wishes.

The dispute follows months of tension after former Dome-Kwabenya MP Sarah Adwoa Safo maintained that her involvement in the funeral and family affairs is solely to ensure her father’s final directives are respected, rejecting claims that the disagreements are about inheritance or control of the Kristo Asafo Mission. 

Earlier this year, the family officially announced that Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s burial service would take place at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, followed by a national farewell ceremony at Independence Square in Accra. The funeral plans were said to have been agreed upon after consultations with family members, church leadership and traditional authorities. 

As of now, the reported GH¢3.7 million demand has not been independently verified through official court documents or a formal statement from the parties involved. It therefore remains an allegation, and the circumstances surrounding the claim are still unclear. 

The latest development is expected to draw significant public attention given Apostle Kwadwo Safo’s influence as a renowned inventor, religious leader and entrepreneur whose contributions to Ghana’s manufacturing sector earned him widespread recognition.
