Arsenal Fight Back to Beat Chelsea 2-1 in London Derby

Arsenal recovered from an early setback to secure a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in Sunday’s Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Chelsea made a flying start when Morgan Rogers opened the scoring with a superb volley just 77 seconds into the match, handing Arsenal their first conceded goal of the new league campaign.

The Gunners responded strongly and thought they had equalised through Riccardo Calafiori, but his effort was ruled out for offside.

Arsenal’s pressure eventually paid off in the 25th minute when former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz cut inside from the right and fired a low shot past goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez to restore parity.

Chelsea nearly regained the lead before halftime, but Pedro Neto’s effort struck the post in added time.

Arsenal completed the comeback five minutes after the restart. New signing Christos Tzolis delivered a low pass into the penalty area, allowing captain Martin Ødegaard to finish confidently and put the hosts 2-1 ahead.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser during the closing stages, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya made an important late save to preserve all three points.

The victory maintained Arsenal’s perfect start to the Premier League season, with Mikel Arteta’s side winning their opening three matches and remaining level on nine points with Manchester City.

It also extended Arsenal’s unbeaten run against Chelsea to 12 matches in all competitions.

For Chelsea and new manager Xabi Alonso, the result marked their first league defeat of the season and highlighted defensive concerns after conceding seven goals in their opening three matches.
