Everton 2- 2 Manchester United

Manchester United were denied all three points after Ainsley Maitland-Niles scored a spectacular stoppage-time equaliser to earn Everton a dramatic 2-2 draw in Sunday’s Premier League encounter.

United appeared to be heading for victory at the Hill Dickinson Stadium after Benjamin Šeško scored an 88th-minute header, but Maitland-Niles struck from long range in the 96th minute to rescue a point for the hosts.

After a goalless first half, Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for Manchester United with an impressive individual effort shortly after the restart.

Bruno Fernandes also came close to extending the visitors’ advantage but saw his effort hit the crossbar.

Everton continued to press and eventually equalised in the 83rd minute through Tyrique George, who produced a powerful finish to beat the United goalkeeper.

The Red Devils responded almost immediately when Šeško rose to head home two minutes from regulation time, seemingly securing the victory for Michael Carrick’s side.

However, Maitland-Niles, making his Everton debut after joining from French club Lyon, delivered the final twist by firing an outstanding long-range effort into the net deep into stoppage time.

The result maintained Everton’s unbeaten start to the Premier League season, leaving them with five points from three matches.

Manchester United, meanwhile, moved to four points after three games. Carrick will be disappointed that his side surrendered the lead twice, including during the final seconds of the contest.
