Elon Musk and Jensen Huang Among CEOs Joining Trump on China Trip

U.S. President Donald Trump has departed for a high-profile diplomatic and business visit to China accompanied by some of America’s most influential technology and corporate leaders, including Elon Musk and Jensen Huang.
The visit, scheduled for May 14–15 in Beijing, is expected to focus heavily on trade relations, artificial intelligence, semiconductor exports, aviation, energy cooperation, and broader economic engagement between the United States and China.
According to reports, executives from major corporations including NVIDIA, Tesla, Apple, Boeing, Qualcomm, Mastercard, and BlackRock are part of the wider U.S. business delegation traveling alongside Trump.
One of the biggest surprises surrounding the trip was the late addition of NVIDIA chief Jensen Huang. Initial reports suggested Huang would not attend because of ongoing political sensitivities over advanced AI chip exports to China. However, Trump reportedly personally invited Huang after media speculation over his absence. Huang later joined Air Force One during a refueling stop in Alaska.
The presence of Huang has intensified global attention on the future of semiconductor trade between Washington and Beijing. Analysts believe discussions could involve NVIDIA’s H200 AI chips and broader negotiations surrounding U.S. technology restrictions on China.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk’s participation is also drawing strong international interest due to Tesla’s extensive manufacturing and market presence in China. Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory remains one of the company’s most important production hubs globally, making Musk a central figure in U.S.–China industrial relations.
The White House is reportedly hoping the trip will help stabilize economic ties between the world’s two largest economies after years of trade disputes, export controls, and geopolitical tensions over Taiwan, AI technology, and supply chains.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is expected to host Trump and the accompanying delegation in Beijing, where both sides may discuss aviation purchases, agricultural trade, rare earth minerals, and technology cooperation.
